Small Trees:

The smallest trees we plant come in 5 gallon containers. These are typically 2-5 ft tall, but have a robust root system that will allow for quick establishment and growth. These trees are best suited to protected areas where they won’t be mistakenly trampled, mowed, or disturbed.

Medium Trees:

This size tree is typically 8-10ft tall and approximately 1″ in diameter and can come in two different forms. Some species can be purchased “bare-root,” meaning the tree is dug without any soil attached to the roots.  Species that cannot be dug as bare-root (i.e. oaks) can be purchased in 10 or 15 gallon containers and are about the same size.

Large Trees:

The largest trees we plant are 1.5-2″ in diameter and can be between 10 and 15ft tall. These trees come “balled and burlaped”, which means the tree is dug from the ground with a large ball of soil and is wrapped in burlap and a wire basket–both of which are removed upon transplant. Larger trees are occasionally available, but we choose not to plant anything above 2″ in diameter due to the cost purchasing, transporting and planting a root ball that can weigh more than 500 lbs. Very large trees also experience greater shock when dug and can take longer to establish and begin to grow.
